Black Money Saga In its battle to combat black money and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) being pumped into the economy, largely to fund terror outfits, by the neighbouring countries, the Modi Government has withdrawn the legal tender status granted to two high value notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. But, was such a measure really required at this time? Is it going to hit only the stock of black money or its generation also? Had Govt taken into account the twin factors of inconvenience caused to the common man and the loss of honour for the Indian currency. Is it really going to shore up the income tax kitty? Will the economy really expand? Is it true that all the black money kept in cash is going to be surrendered in our banking channel? To know answers to these questions, TIOL TUBE invited three noted experts - CBDT Member S S Khan; CBEC Chairman Sumit Dutt Majumder and Rohit Jain, Partner, Vaish & Associates. The show was anchored by TIOL Founder Editor Shailendra Kumar.
